President-Elect Donald Trump’s biggest nomination is that of Secretary of State. It has been suggested the role is very much like a co-president. According to Wikipedia the Secretary of State is defined as the following
“The Secretary of State is a senior official of the federal government of the United States of America heading the U.S. Department of State, principally concerned with foreign policy and is considered to be the U.S. government’s equivalent of a Minister for Foreign Affairs.” – Wikipedia
Unfortunately with the above definition it is very saddening to hear that the majority of the people being considered for S.O.S. position are almost the opposite of Trump those people would be…
-Neo-Con Former Ambassador John Bolton
-Establishment Republican Former Republican Presidential Nominee Mitt Romney
-Neo-Con Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani
But fortunately there are some picks being considered that align with Trump’s political opinion of non-aggressive defense first foreign policy and those would be…
-Berniecrat Democratic Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard
-Libertarian Republican Senator Rand Paul
Most likely John Bolton is just a gift suggestion for the Mercer Family (big donors). Mitt Romney is already disliked by Trump’s campaign manager. Rand Paul who is a long shot on this list is probably 3rd most likely. Friend and congressman Justin Amash floated his name in a recent tweet and Rand Paul and Donald Trump have the same foreign policy believes. However the two have bad history (but so did Nikki Haley who was made UN ambassador) and Rand is not currently in the mix being mentioned by traditional media.
That leaves Rudy Giuliani and Tulsi Gabbard. Rudy has been a fierce Trump supporter since day one and is by and large a nice guy. However he has no foreign policy experience and his policy believes on the subject are the opposite of Trump’s. That leaves the Democrat, Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard. I must admit I was skeptic of her to begin with since she is a Democrat. However Tulsi holds the same foreign policy views as Trump. She is Anti-TPP, believes in a dovish foreign policy and lastly she actually met with Trump. Congresswoman Gabbard would be an interesting pick since being from the other party as the president but that might be for the best for the unification of our country.
But enough of me talking. Who is your pick? Vote below and share your thoughts in the comment section below.
